The wedding was Saturday, and the Lord truly blessed us with a wonderful family and a wonderful day. The rain held off until we left, and we were the last to leave the park, who’d have thought it would have gone that way! If you have missed my updated on facebook, Scott was burned in a car fire on Friday night, so we opted for a very short and sweet service with no rehearsal. Hey, I’ll all about simple.

I’ll be posting more pictures, but this is a snapshot of the two of us before the wedding…can’t you tell the poor guy feels horrible!
14 Days and Counting
In 14 days there will be bells ringing! Yes, I do have bells for people to ring. I’ve been fretting over things, answering this person and that person’s questions. Mostly my mom and his mom. When someone asks if they can help with anything, I don’t know what to say. There is a lot to be done, but I don’t want to fret. My house needs to be cleaned, some paint applied, some weeds pulled. I don’t really think anyone wants to help with these things, do you?
As far as the wedding things go, I’m open. I want things simple. I’m not opting for the florist to deliver flowers, but to pick up a few boquets of flowers and scatter them about in a hap-hazard way, that doesn’t require a lot of thought. Yeah, I know I’m crafty like that! lol! But really, my mom and her sisters are crafty and I hope that I can leave a lot of those things up to them.
I simply don’t want a lot of fuss. My house isn’t perfect, it is getting older and needs work. Do you think my guests will mind? Well if they do, they need not look. My decorating sense is not that of my sisters, or anyone else that I know. I have no decorating sense really. Are our wedding guest coming to see my house! GASP! I hope not!
Our intentions on having our wedding here at home, is so that we can share our home, our wedding, our family and our love. There will not be an abundance of lamb chops and fish, or anything fancy to eat. There will not be a wedding cake….but cakes that are family favorites. Of course there will be a few things that are traditional, a few things that I want, but for the most part everything will be simple.
A simple wedding for a simple couple. In some ways this is simple, and others it is hard. I’m letting go of other people’s dreams to have my own. Some will find this amusing. I’m a pleaser to an extent. I’d love to please my mother by having an outlandish church wedding on a shoe string budget, but guess what? its not happening that way. We do have a shoe string budget, but it isn’t outlandish and isn’t a church wedding. I’ve rarely seen myself in a church wedding. I’ve always seen myself standing by an oak tree in my wedding gown. Right now that oak tree has a horsey tire swing and multiple ropes and brown ribbons hanging from its branches. I’m not sure that I’ll even remove those 
By having simple decorations, and simple surroundings we hope to bring out the conversations that capture the spirit of our families. I want to see smiles and hear laughter. I want to see my kids playing chase, or jumping on the trampoline. We are opting for the two larger dogs to be away from the guests because they would love to jump on the tables and play, but the new puppy may get to stay for the fun.
I want to be pulled into conversations so that we don’t leave our loved ones too soon. I’d love to stay up until the sun greets us in the morning, but I know that we will be fast asleep from all of the excitement of the days before.
After a bit of a devotion tonight, I know that God doesn’t want me to worry over the details. He wants us to praise him in everything we do. That includes our weddings. If I were too busy that morning, putting all of the finishing touches on things, I know that I would be snappy to our wonderful children. God doesn’t want that, so I vow to keep that from happening. I vow to make this wedding simple and enjoyable for all of our family and friends.

This is a picture from the afternoon after our first real date. We’d been up for over 24 hours at the time and stopped to visit a friend of ours, when we fell asleep. We looked so tired!
13 fun things to do when you get engaged
I’m trying not to stress over wedding plans yet, but its hard not to. So I’ve come up with a list of fun things to do when you get engaged.
- Jump up and down screaming your lungs out, because you never thought it would really happen.
- Call your mom and try to be calm about it, even though you are really doing #1 on the inside.
- Tell your kids, only to find out that they are so happy that they are doing #1
- Watch every wedding show that you can find on tv, then realize that there is a whole Wedding Channel and beg your newly betrothed to get it for you.
- Start calling your future husband your groom, and he calls you his bride or Mrs. Polka Spot.
- Practice the Wedding March, until you almost wet your pants on the way to the bathroom.
- Listen to every song you hear with a different ear and ask “Should we play that at the wedding?”
- Talk to your best girlfriends about this favor and that invite sending texts and emails back and forth constantly.
- Have your mom get an iPhone so that she can learn to do #8
- Have lunch with your mom, only to realize than she is doing #2
- Dreams of the Honeymoon dance in your head.
- Tell all of your friends on Facebook, and read all of the well wishes from your loved ones.
- Fall asleep on your fiance’s shoulder, knowing he is the one and then he kissed you goodnight.

Can anyone recommend dance lessons?
So if you’ve known me for a while, you know that I’ve planned the most part of two weddings in my life and I guess I’m starting to plan a third. I’m praying this one is actually going to happen. I’ve never been married, never walked down the isle for my own wedding. So anyways this video was brought to my attention. I want to have a party for a wedding, something no one will ever forget. Maybe this is going into the planning file for now. Will check with Scott to see what he thinks. We can’t dance, but we could learn right?
