August is Here
I'm in a contest to win a Bag Makeover. I really need this since Chocolate melted in my bag and I haven't been able to replace it. Please vote for me!!! It only takes a second! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Today is August 1st. Wow! I can’t believe its this late in the summer. The kids start school on August 9th, so we really only have a week to enjoy what’s left of summer vacation.
We’ve had a really laid back summer this year. Funds have been really tight and we stayed at home a lot more than usual. It’s kind of sad, really. This week we want to make some memories.
My goal for being more like Eli is in full swing, and I’m at least holding my own at the moment. I want to get a graph or something up showing how much of the Bible that I’ve read so far. Please continue to cheer me on here, I’ve hit some obstacles for sure, but I’m trying to get through them slowly but steadily.
Many of you know that I love photography. For a couple years I’ve been wanting to upgrade to DSLR but couldn’t decide on what to buy. I’ve made that decision and will be going with the Canon Rebel t2i. Not sure how well this is going to go, but all of the money that’s raised here on Polka Spot Farm will be going into my camera fund.
That being said, my Open Sky store will be open shortly —–see the sidebar———> So please know that a portion of the sales will be going to that fund. There’s also talk about having and Etsy store with some homemade goodies and maybe even a store right here on Polka Spot Farm. I’ll update you as things come up.
This being the month of August, Flylady says the habit is Laundry.
I’m certainly up for having my laundry caught up and declutter a lot of it. How do you maintain your laundry routine? I hope to share a few ideas over the next month, and let you know what works, and doesn’t work for our family.
Family Foodies and more!
I have a new gig!
Well I’ve been blogging at Family Foodies for about 2 months now, but in a couple weeks if all goes well I’ll be the new editor! Yippee!
What does this mean for Polka Spot Farm? Well instead of posting foodie type posts here like my Menu for Menu Plan Monday, it will be moved to Family Foodies. All of my old recipes and menus will stay here on this blog, but a lot of the new things will go to Family Foodies. I will be concentrating more on homemaking here at Polka Spot Farm, like I had originally intended.
Eat Sweat Lose
If you’ve missed it, I’m also blogging at Eat Sweat Lose with a great chick named Heather. This blog is about our weight loss journey. Check us out on Tuesday and Thursdays for our weigh-in’s. I know that all of the great food we had this weekend has me at a gain instead of a loss…but lets just see what the scale says for me on Tuesday’s
I’m also still blogging monthly at Sensational Divas Review. This group is full of ladies that I’m very close to, and most of them have great personal blogs.
When its all written out like this, I seem kind of busy don’t I?! That’s 4 blogs so far…what’s going to be next?! Just keep reading to see!
I hope that you will join me in my new ventures and leave lots of comments! lol I’ll be happy to see some familiar faces over at these other blogs.
Yes I know its 5am
I’ve gotten into this bad habit. My habit is that I get this great burst of creative energy around midnight, sometimes later. Last night I stayed up until midnight to see if hubby has a job or not. There is an 11 hour extension on that front, so we’re still waiting.
Anyways, it was sometimes after 2am when I got my burst this morning. I wrote out a simple draft in WordPress, then scribbled on some paper. Grabbed my handy dandy clipboard because writing on the walls wasn’t happening tonight (more on that later).
I started getting a real plan for this post down on paper. It’s a guest post for someone else, but I’ll do a linky post to all of my other posts pretty soon so that you can see what I’ve been doing. Anyways, I finally emailed my “lady” about the draft and that I would polish it up tomorrow.
I wanted to go on to bed at this point, really its 5am, and way past my bedtime. The only problem is, I’m WIRED! I haven’t had caffeine in a few days (go me!) so other than the creativity in my brain, I have no idea what it could be, but I wish it would go away.
Anyways, I just wanted to let my loyal readers know that yes I know its 5am, but its all gonna be worth it in the end.
Big things are coming!
I have a big announcement coming up later on this week. I’m just waiting until I know all of my bases are covered, but I’m about to jump up and down over it all! I can’t wait to share!

The New and Improved Polka Spot Farm!
We are still in construction mode, but with a whole lot of help from Karen over at Simply A Musing Designs we have come a long way. So watch out for the shovel and pitch fork, and mind the the chickens running around.
The tentative timing for the big blog launch will be the end of July. I have scheduled some great give always and will be
doing a twitter party around that time also. Watch out on the “Front Porch” for updates.
So tell me how you like the new design, and of course the rooster!
You never know what the future may hold
There is always a future, especially here at Polka Spot Farm. In the near future you will be seeing a lot more of the farm life, including our new rooster Uncle Harvey. Uncle Harvey is a young rooster that has a lot of energy and has been literally running all over the farm his first few days here. I can’t wait to catch him still enough for a photo shoot. Y’all will love him!
There will be a lot of changes around the blog too, mostly design changes. Karen from Simply A Musing Designs will be starting on my design sometime in the near future. If you are looking for blog design, she’s really awesome! For my blog future, think chickens!
I’m in the mood to get my hands dirty lately, so I’ve asked for a little help on the organic gardening front. If you are interested in organic gardening, this is going to be the place to learn from the experts. I have at least 3 experts lined up for guest posts right now! I’m so excited. We are lining things up to start soon. Get your manicures now and enjoy them so that we can get down and dirty later.Hopefully we can get some sponsors for giveaways during this time. If you have something you want reviewed or promote that has anything to do with gardening, please let me know as soon as possible.
Subscribe to my feed, just so you won’t miss out on anything. This summer is going to be so much fun! I can’t wait to get started!
