What’s in the bag?

I see you've been here before, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! I'm in a contest to win a Bag Makeover. I really need this since Chocolate melted in my bag and I haven't been able to replace it. Please vote for me!!! It only takes a second!

Once Again offered one of their reusable grocery bags. I was a bit skeptical of her bags only because it was a one layer bag with no lining and made from vintage fabrics. Boy was I wrong! This is one of the best bags that I use today, and use I have! The fabric is very sturdy; the bottom isn’t a seam but the fold of fabric which means that your bag won’t split like its plastic predecessor. All of the edges are searged instead of folded over for a finished hem. Don’t let that fool you, it’s pretty AND strengthens the bag!

I didn’t want to unfold this super cute bag and get it out of its perfectly ironed little package. The bag had been pressed so that it was folded so perfectly, but guess what? Even after you have used it and washed it, it folds up almost as nicely as the first time you pull it out of its minimalistic packaging.

Once Again uses recycled/upcycled materials such as vintage linens and clothing to make their products. I love this and have started picking up my own vintage linens from the local thrift stores, and scouring through my mother’s stash that she left me a few years ago.

How cute are these bags?!

I don’t like carrying those plain bags that you buy at the big box stores, but I also don’t like to bring home a ton of plastic bags. Our county doesn’t recycle, so that means I have to lug those plastic bags back to the store. Now I do like to keep a few of those nasty plastic bags to tie up stinky things for the garbage can, but all in all I really could live without them, especially after finding so many bags that work for me.

Now not all reusable bags are made equally, but this bag is the one I grab to stuff into my purse. It’s cute, it’s strong, it’s in my purse!

So there was this smell…

I’ve been trying to find this weird smell in my boys room for the last week or so, and lets just say that I think its just a boy thing, because I can’t find it. We bought air wick plugin things for their room and that’s just not working. I got to thinking back to my Melaluca days, and one of the things I did back then was take melaluca oil (tea tree oil) and turn the bottle upside down on the a/c filter. It made the house smell ok, and killed lots of things in the air. Well I’ve been meaning to pick some up, but I’m never near a health food store.

I came accross the bottle of sweet orange oil that I keep in the hall closet. DUH! I use this stuff for everything. It has the dripper type top (that allows 1 drop to fall out at a time, not the eye dropper type). I took it down the hall about 2 feet and opened the a/c up and put it in there. HELLO! What took me so long to do this?

My house smells like freshly cut oranges now! Even the boys room is much better. Now just to get their closet cleaned out…maybe next week.

Save the Planet and your budget

A few weeks ago I cut my budget and started helping the planet. I found a Brita Pitcher on sale and bought it. Thats kept me from buying a case of water bottles every week. Now I’m drinking water out of a glass! Wow what a difference! Its something that I don’t even notice. I fill my pitcher at night and drink water all the next day. How easy is that!

I was surfing today for some green tips and things and came across a challenge for doing this very same thing. Filter for Life is offering 2 coupons for taking their pledge to stop filling the landfills and start filling your own bottles. The coupons are for 2.00 off a Brita filter and 5.00 off a Brita filter system.

Click the button below or on my sidebar, and go take the pledge with me!
