Fighting Migraines With Water
I see you've been here before, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed.
Last week I told you that I was fighting a migraine. This week I’ve had headaches, but nothing nearly as serious. Top that off with sinus problem, fatigue and well the first thing that I’m going to do is make sure that I”m well hydrated every day.
With so many benefits of drinking water, I have to ask myself why am I not drinking it these days. At one time, I was drinking a LOT of water every day, lately I drink a cup or two.
My “health food store lady” once told me to drink at 1/2 ounce for every pound that I weighed. Well ladies and whatever gentlemen that may stumble across this post, I weigh a lot. I know that I can’t start at that big number, it will never happen.
My new routine will be to drink a glass of water before bed, and when I get out of bed. I’m saying at least 8 oz of water both of those times of day. Then I will carry my 27 oz. Kleen Kanteen around with me during the day, and will try for 2-3 of those a day.
I know that I feel so much better when I’m drinking my water.
Some of the benefits of drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day are:
- Promotes Fat Loss
- Combats Headaches
- Prevents Fatigue
- Reduces Hunger
- Hydrates Skin
I could go on and on, I bet you could too.
Are you up for a challenge?
Will you start drinking more water every day? If you are, you can follow me on Twitter @ChristiDarty and we will encourage each other on our journey.
Help! I Have Another Migraine
I’ve been having migraines for years now, and only recently has OTC’s not taken care of them. A few months back I was in the doctors office needing help.
For now I’m on a prescription pain reliever for migraines. Not anything for preventing them. I would rather not go on something that I have to take daily, partly because of the cost, but also because I don’t want extra chemicals in my body every day.
Right now I’m looking into the causes of migraines. All of these are on my list for this last migraine:
- Dehydration
- Hormones
- Low Iron (I’ve had the strangest cravings for red meat)
I know that other things can trigger migraines, and often they do mine, but this is the list that I’m researching for this particular one. It was different than a few of the last migraines that I’ve had.
Do you have migraines? Do you treat them naturally? I’d love to hear more from you. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think.
Christmas Wish List: TiVo
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of TiVo. All opinions are 100% mine.
On my Christmas list this year is TiVo. Why? Because Mama always comes last when its time to pick what's on the screen.
We haven't had any source of TV other than DVD's and VHS tapes for quite some time. Seriously, satellite TV was the first thing to go when my husband lost his job.
The cool thing about TiVo is that you can watch Netflix through it too. another wish list item is to get Netflix back) Watching webisodes of Grey's Anatomy will be so much easier for me this way.
I seriously can't wait for Grey's Anatomy, but I do need a way to watch it weekly too. If I had TiVo that would be no problem at all. I would just set it up to record in a snap! Yay! Love me some Grey's!
Oh yeah, right now you can go Enter to Win one of the new TiVo Slides in the "30 Slides in 30 Days"Sweepstakes. The contest ends tomorrow 9/22/10, so go register to win now!
I'm so excited to get back into Fall TV with Grey's Anatomy and House! Maybe I can talk hubby into calling the satellite company sooner rather than later, but for now I'm going to run over and become a fan of TiVo on Facebook Fan and Enter to Win the Sweepstakes. Why don't you join me?

Aladdin Do The Reuse Challenge
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Aladdin. All opinions are 100% mine.
We are packing lunches these days, and already trying to stick to reusable bottles, and away from paper plates. This challenge is going to push me to find a few things to send with my husband that he will agree to, and stay within our budget!
Aladdin is sponsoring the Do the Reuse Challenge, are you up for it?
I've certainly trimmed my budget over the years by decreasing my paper towel use to a bare minimum, and throwing out the notion of paper plates and cups. My mom relies on both of these so it was hard to break my habit.
I would love to make up a few sandwich wraps, and find more things to send in reusable containers to pack in hubby's lunch box. Right now its sandwiches in plastic sandwich bag *gasp!* I'm so glad that Aladdin is having this 30 day challenge, I can't wait to start!
Some great facts:
● Seven million barrels of oil are used to produce the disposable bottles Americans go through in one year.
● In the United States, 50 billion disposable water bottles are consumed per year; 137,000 per day; 1,585 per second.
● It costs about $165 a year to make drip coffee at home versus $636 to buy drip coffee at your local café.
● Unless we change our habits, 23 billion paper coffee cups will be thrown out in 2010.
● Nine dollars will generally cover a decent lunch out. If you buy rather than pack a lunch five days a week, you shell out about $2,350 a year.

Mercy House
The Mercy House is a dream sent from God to Kristen Welch and her husband of We Are That Family. The Mercy House will be a maternity house that will provide essentials for pregnant women in Africa. This will keep them safe and away from horrible abortions and healthy, along with helping to provide them with education and skills to take care of their new baby.
All that I can say is wow! I’m nearly in tears. Tears of joy! I can’t believe that one of “our bloggers” is starting such a great foundation! I really hope to help her raise funds, so you may be hearing more about this great foundation.
Please click the buttons above to read more about The Mercy House, donate, buy something from their Etsy store, and you can even donate something for them to sell at the Etsy store. All proceeds from Kristen’s blog and sales from the Etsy store will go to The Mercy House. So if you want to advertise, this is the place to do it!
I can’t wait to see this dream get off the ground! (and yes this has a little bit to do with my God Breeze)
Menu Plan Monday
We are trying to cut our food budget by around 100.00 this month. The first thing I’ve done is to use what we have. I’m really bad about making sure I have more than enough, and cook for an army! lol! Things must change around here, but I’m not sure how all of it will go.

This week I’m cooking these meals from my freezer and pantry, without buying much more than I must have to complete the meal.

- Monday: NY Strip (about $8 for 6 steaks) Baked Potatoes and Salad
- Tuesday: Grilled Chicken, pasta salad
- Wednesday: Grilled Pork Chops, mashed Potatoes and salad
- Thursday: Mexican
- Friday: Homemade Pizza
- Saturday: Homemade Vegetable Beef Soup, homemade bread
- Sunday: Chicken and Dumplings

Trimming the Grocery Budget
Today I realized that I need to trim my grocery budget by a whopping 100.00! My budget is rather large in comparison to a lot of families but its still a good deal of trimming. I think it may be time to start back into my couponing routine.
I’m writing a list on what coupons I will be looking for, and start getting the Sunday paper. That means there’s a 10.00+ a month increase to our budget, just for the Sunday paper.
If I print coupons, then I need to add to my budget for ink and paper ( and really a new printer at this point).
I used to do “deals” from CVS and Walgreens now and then, but got out of it. Maybe its time to rethink my method or was it a madness! lol.
Time to dust off the old coupon binder and get to work.
