How Has Clutter Taken Over Your Life?

Right now I want to purge. I feel like purging everything that I own. I need the money to sell things, but feel like God will bless me if I just give it all away.

Can any charity take everything that I have? Leave me with the essentials?

I just counted 5 colanders. Why do I need 5 colanders?! This has crossed my mine more than once this week.

What got me to thinking? This Article.

I know that my house is not nearly that bad. I don’t have anything stacked to the ceiling, not even on the top shelf of any closet.

There’s still clutter in every room of my house. Did I mention 5 colanders?

Sure there are things that we need more than one, but what are those things? Do we have numerous items because we can’t find them? I have an excuse for 5 colanders, but when I say it outloud it makes me want to toss them anyways. All of them but 2 I think, because they serve different purposes. But only 1 is needed strickly speaking.

I feel like purging, before someone comes to my house and finds my decaying body under a pile of clutter….

lol. Please start purging. ;) and I have 2 colanders. More is not necessary. Unless you live alone more than one item of each kind of silverware is needed.

Eek. That is really sad about the hoarder. Her poor husband.

Good luck purging! It’s well worth the effort. I did it once earlier this spring and tossed/donated/sold a bunch. I’ll do it again this fall as there is still more that I can get rid of. Think of how much less you will have to clean!! :)

I have 2 colanders, one is your standard round one, and the other (my favorite) is from Ikea; it reaches from one side of the sink to the other, eliminating the need for the colander to sit in the bottom of the sink. I really wish I had 2 of these, one for food, and another because sometimes I will leave it across my sink and collect dirty silverware in it so that it doesn’t get mixed up with the rest of the dishes.

The hoarder story was just awful!

I have 2 stainless steel colanders, but I could probably get away with just one. One always sits in the center of my dining room table filled with fruit. Not sure why I chose a colander as a centerpiece, I guess it just has a cool design. The other, I rarely use. I think I may go put it in the goodwill pile that’s going out tomorrow.

I am keeping the newest large Tupperware Colander, and my grandmother’s metal one. The others will be donated in the morning! :D

To be completely honest 3 of these are my mom’s that will be decluttered, and I’ve already tossed one of them a few years back.

If I didn’t use my colanders a lot, I’d most likely keep only the antique one, but I do like the Tupperware one for hot things.

First, I have to say what a sad story! Next, I can relate to your need to declutter! That’s why began following Flylady about 5 years ago. I’ve been receiving your posts via email for several weeks now and I enjoy them all!
