Grinch to Happy in 1 Daisy Scout flat

I’m a Girl Scout Leader this year. It’s my first year and Saturday we went on our first scout trip.  Scott came home on Friday night, and we had the Homecoming game at school. After working all day, driving 3 hours and part of the game he decided he’d better get some sleep. So on with the Benadryl. Saturday morning we had to leave relatively early for someone who took a sleeping aid. Scott didn’t wake up grouchy really but very groggy. I proceeded to call him the Grinch for the rest of the morning. Well that’s until a little Daisy scout took to him.

The Daisy was scared to do everything. We wanted to take her picture in the corn, and she wouldn’t. So I offered to walk her behind the structure. This little Daisy had taken up with me on the Wednesday before and was such a wonderful helper, but I couldn’t convince her that she’d be safe behind the big corn. Well if you had X-Ray vision you could see Scott crouching behind the big corn structure so that he can’t be seen.  I don’t know what it is about big fellows and little girls, but they sure do work out well for one another.

Big things are coming!

I have a big announcement coming up later on this week. I’m just waiting until I know all of my bases are covered, but I’m about to jump up and down over it all! I can’t wait to share!

Menu Plan Monday (Protien, Protien, and Salads)

I’m on this diet, and well Saturday I got off of it, and if I don’t start eating more veggies (aka. salads) I’m not gonna lose any more weight, so I thought I’d do a lot of protien and salads this week, don’t you love when someone uses commas way to much to keep from using a capital letter and a period? :)

Monday: Grilled Chicken Salad

Tuesday: Smoked Boston Butt, salad and potatoes

Wednesday: Pizza and Salad

Thursday: Turkey Salad

Friday: Chicken Salad

Whew that was hard! lol!

Bloggest Loser Update 4

Photobucket

This is gonna be quick this week because I’m super busy, but wanted to drop in and update. I lost half a pound! yay me! So I didn’t gain, and I wish that I had lost more. I’m ok with it since I really stayed off my diet all day on Saturday. I’m still getting used to the diet plan, but its been a month since I started Bloggest Loser and overall I’ve lost weight.

I walked a lot on Friday and Saturday. When I got up Sunday I had shin splints and my ankles felt like they were about to break! I wore the wrong shoes in the parade then again the next day to our Girl Scout field trip. Any walking this week will require a much more comfy shoe with orthodics. I know better.  You can check out my Menu for the week if you like.

My goals for the week:

  • Drink my water (if I don’t I don’t lose)
  • Eat 2 salads a day (or other veggie)
  • Walk daily (with the right shoes)

13 Ways to Simplify Your Day

  1. Get up and get dressed. Get your hair done and makeup on so that you are ready to answer the door or run out in an emergency.
  2. Eat a good breakfast, take your vitamins and drink your water.
  3. Check out your calendar. What is on your menu for today? Do you need to take something out for tomorrow? Do you have a meeting with your child’s teacher? Is it errand day? Make any updates, and add things to your to do list.
  4. Keep a small notebook handy to jott ideas down,  shopping lists, phone numbers and reminders. If you try to remember all of this, your brain will become cluttered.
  5. Plan healthy meals and snacks. If you are used to snacking on junk, don’t buy it. If you need to drink 4 bottles of water a day, make sure they are in the fridge or nearby so that you don’t have to make an extra trip to get one.
  6. Have the king (or queen) of the trash, dishwasher, vacuum, etc. Pick a family member to take responsibility for chores. Teach them how to do their chore and remind them when necessary. The goal is to have them on auto pilot when something needs to be done.
  7. Have  morning, mid-day, afternoon, nightly, daily, weekly, and monthly routines. Write it down and check them often. Personalize this for your life, not someone else.
  8. Keep a cleaning kit of what you need in each bathroom. If everything is there, you have no excuses not to keep things pretty when you run in to potty.
  9. Turn off the T.V., computer, and anything else that’s distracting for a set amount of time a day. Take weekends off, or a set day.
  10. Keep a laundry basket in your car. Fill it with everything that you need to bring inside in one trip. Put things away immediately.
  11. When you leave a room, take something with you that doesn’t belong. Put it away. Its simple and saves a trip later on.
  12. Write down every purchase that you make in your notebook. How did you pay for it? Can you pay cash? If you pay with cash, you are less likely to spend money on frivolous things.
  13. Cut out special time for your family as a group and individually. This includes you. If that means missing a game or your favorite show so be it. What’s more important? You have to make that decision.

More Wordless Wednesday here and here.

Just get rid of it

I was talking to my friend Amber today about things we’ve stashed in our houses. Many times these are things that are stashed that we don’t love, but we don’t want to let go and it causes us stress. The stress from lost space for your family, stress from finding a home for those items, stress from the clutter as a whole. Some of us have lost entire rooms to clutter, just as a holding spot.

Amber decided to just dump things in the garbage today. I’m like yep that always works. Things that you don’t use, haven’t used in a year or longer should go to charity or in the garbage. For us we both agree with trashing most of the things. When you store many things this way, just dumping them in a spot they need more effort in cleaning and finding a home for them than they are worth.

Throw it out. Even if its only one thing or a box of things a week, throw it out. Just get rid of it. If you loved it, it would already have a home or would have been used. I know that I have limited space for garbage, but at the end of each week I plan on using every inch of extra space in my garbage can for clutter.

I’m only donating things that we have outgrown and are in good shape. Who wants my clutter that hasn’t been used in years?

Now to ask Scott’s mother to use some of my yarn stash on her knitting machine for Christmas Presents. Shhh! Don’t tell anyone!

You can get a lot more tips like this from Works For Me Wednesday.

New Arrivals on the Farm!

I was napping and all of a sudden there was a huge ruckus outside. I ran to the door and there they were. All of the cows had rushed over to see the new arrivals and the mom wasn’t liking that at all!

New Chicks

Our chickens free range and I had lost track of their nests. They move them from time to time and finding a nest full of eggs is nice but you don’t want to gather them. We had no idea that we would have chicks any time soon especially not this time of year. I guess that I need to read more about them. I have only had chicks for less than a year, and it was about 25 years before that when we had chickens before. I love these little guys they are so fun to watch.
